5 BRISBANE PROVIDORES YOU NEED TO VISIT FOR DINER EN BLANC.
THE STANDARD MARKET COMPANY, NEWSTEAD
The Standard Market Company of Newstead has Brisbane’s ultimate foodie’s paradise – an indoor market that incorporates a butcher, charcuterie, fromagerie, fresh produce mart, bakery, deli and aisles of ceiling to floor gourmet and chef endorsed groceries in the centre of Gasworks Plaza. If you want to try something a little bit different this Diner en Blanc, the butchery stocks everything from rabbit, crocodile and quail to Bangalow ham and bacon, char sui duck breast, wagyu beef and a whole batch of easy-carve roasts including succulent Tasmanian roast lamb. The aisles are also stacked with a range of sorbet and gelati, pure honeycomb, organic juices, chutneys, oils and vinegars of every flavour and Maleny and Barambah dairy products. Take a few bags for your foodie haul, you’ll need them!

THE STORES, WEST END
The Stores West End is what you could call an Aladdin's Cave of all things fresh and locally produced - a providore's dream-come-true and supporter of local farmers and producers. Locally produced fare like Scenic Rim 4Real milk, Kingaroy cheeses, Coolana Olives from Lowood, and Millmerran pork are only just a few of the products stocked. For those who appreciate aged beef, The Stores has a temperature controlled dry age cabinet where you can buy from the range of meats already hanging or choose your own piece of meat to be hung and aged. Perhaps the showstopper here though is the purpose built fromagerie, where shelf upon shelf displays both local and imported artisan cheeses. Let’s just say I wouldn’t blame you if you decide to make cheese one of your Diner en Blanc courses after a trip here.

JOCELYNS PROVISIONS, FORTITUDE VALLEY
If you are thinking about incorporating baked goods in your Diner en Blanc feast, a visit to Jocelyn’s will have you weak at the knees with choice. Holding a nationwide reputation for its fine cakes, bread, pastries and provisions, all goods are baked fresh using the finest ingredients and traditional recipes retaining old world charm. Each bread type especially is an exceptional example of its variety: the sourdough has a thick crust and a distinct tang; baguetttes are crisp - not flaky - with an elastic crumb; and ciabattas have a moist crumb and chewy crust. Will someone pass the butter already?

SOURCED GROCER, TENERRIFE
The perfect proprietor of good food, Sourced Grocer in Newstead is your one-stop-shop for fabulous gourmet finds. Located in a converted warehouse, the part dining, part grocer layout means perusing the stockpiles of fresh produce is an experience in itself. The cold room is a treasure trove for foodies where you can find everything from truffle oil to squid ink pasta. The possibilities to create here are well and truly endless and I challenge you to leave without buying something.

BOTANICA, RED HILL
Fancy a fresh salad as one of your Diner en Blanc courses? Gourmet Red Hill providore Botanica will be happy to help. Drop in for freshly baked loaves of organic bread delivered daily from Leavain or delicious gluten free goodies that are baked fresh daily. I hear the wicked chocolate brownies with salted coconut caramel are something else. It's all about the sensational salads though, a fresh daily range that walk out the door. Pesto potatoes, Israeli couscous, beetroot slaw, wild rice, pumpkin, celery root, spiced peanut puree, fried almonds and crisp green beans are but a few of the ingredients to turn up in their delicious combinations. Paired with a beautiful savoury tart, this is fuss-free fare at its best!
