Register for the 2017 Waiting List

Registration for our 2017 Waiting List is now open! Register to stay informed.

When is the 2017 event?

The date does change every year, because the location changes and bookings will differ. We have not yet released the date for 201y yet, but we will soon. We don't release the date until we are 100% certain it will not change, and that means organising everything. We generally release the date 3 months before the event, so you have enough time.

What is Diner en Blanc?

I'm sure you've seen the pictures and the videos! It really is as incredible and magical as it looks.

The worldwide phenomenon known as Dîner en Blanc® will celebrate its 28th anniversary in 2016!

Launched by François Pasquier and a handful of friends in 1988, the Paris Dîner en Blanc® now attracts more than 20,000 people each year. What began as a “friends and word-of-mouth only” event has grown into an international phenomenon held across hundreds of cities spanning five continents.

While the technology behind the event may have changed over the years, the principles fuelling this fantastic event have not: diners continue to gather at a secret location for the sole purpose coming together for a spontaneous dinner event to celebrate one of their city’s most beautiful locations.

Each event is headed by passionate local organisers. Brisbane’s hosts Brooke Williams, Amy Grey and Kim Mayberry fell in love with the concept and wanted to bring it to their city. The ideals of the event fall perfectly inline with their interests in public space activation and the enhancement of creative culture and entertainment in Brisbane. Last year, Brisbane’s fourth edition saw 2,200 people gather at Brisbane’s stunning historic Queens Park for a memorable evening.

This year, foodies and cultural enthusiasts dressed in white will descend on a secret location that will be revealed to them at the very last minute for an unforgettable evening of elegance, beauty and magic.

Guests bring a picnic basket of food, china and silverware, tables and white chairs to rallying locations around the city, before being whisked off to their final secret destination. The pop-up picnic promises an unforgettable evening of elegance, beauty, and magic taking over one of the city’s favourite public spaces.

What is the history of Brisbane's events?

There are 60+ Diner en Blanc events all over the world – and Brisbane is one of the longest running! We were the first in Australia to bring the event here.

We have had incredible events, at spectacular locations like Queens Park, Roma Street Parklands, Hamilton and South Bank. The event has grown over time and last year our Waiting List had over 10,000 people on it!

We believe the success of the event is because our attendees are wonderful!! There is a bit of effort that goes into the event – dressing in white, bringing tables and chairs – but we Brisbanian's aren't afraid of a little effort, because we know the rewards are spectacular! If you are the kind of person who loves to meet new people, put on a party, be part of something incredible and you love our city, you will love this event and have a magical evening!

Where is it?

It's a secret! Every year the destination changes. It could be anywhere in Brisbane. You won't even find out until you arrive, which is just one aspect that makes the event so much fun.

When do tickets go on sale?

There are 3 phases to tickets:

Phase 1 are guests from last year only. They get the first chance to return to the event. These tickets typically go on sale 5 weeks before the event.

Phase 2 are people recommended by the Phase 1 ticket holders. If you know someone who attended Diner en Blanc in 2015, we suggest contacting them to see if they will sponsor you. These tickets typically go on sale 4 weeks before the event.

Phase 3 is open to everyone on the Waiting List. These tickets typically go on sale 3 weeks before the event. It's first come, first served for these tickets (just like a concert), and previously they have sold out in a few hours. We are putting on more tickets than ever this year, but I would still recommend you get in quick.

About a week before each phase opens you will receive an email with the details about how to register and what dates and times you need to be ready.

If you have some more questions about tickets, like can you book in groups, are you guaranteed a ticket if you are on the waiting list, and more, have a look at our blog post for 2015 - https://brisbane.dinerenblanc.com/questions-about-tickets-541

Can I get more involved?

Yes! We need volunteers to assist with the communication with guests and leading people at the event. You get to enjoy yourself on the night and also get some great perks.
