Are you new to Le Diner en Blanc in 2019? Here is the information you want to know!
Welcome to Le Diner en Blanc - Brisbane, this is our 8th Year, and we have some exciting things happening!
If you are new, your first task should be to register your interest in the event - brisbane.dinerenblanc.com/register
Registering has placed you on the ticket waiting list and you will be given an opportunity to buy a ticket in Phase 3 of ticket sales (but more about the phases in a moment). We are releasing more tickets than ever this year, because demand has been so high in the last few years, so you've got more of a chance than ever. Make sure you tell your friends, and get them to register too.
What is Le Diner en Blanc?
I'm sure you've seen the pictures and the videos! It really is as incredible and magical as it looks.
The worldwide phenomenon known as Le Dîner en Blanc celebrated its 30th anniversary in June 2018!
Launched by François Pasquier and a handful of friends in 1988, Le Dîner en Blanc de Paris now attracts more than 10,000 people each year. What began as a “friends and word-of-mouth only” event has grown into an international phenomenon held across hundreds of cities spanning five continents.
While the technology behind the event may have changed over the years, the principles fuelling this fantastic event have not: diners continue to gather at a secret location for the sole purpose coming together for a spontaneous dinner event to celebrate one of their city’s most beautiful locations.
Each event is headed by passionate local organisers. This year Brisbane welcomes all new hosts Theresa, Michael and Alex. Passionate Le Diner En Blanc devotees, we are strong advocates of the blossoming Brisbane creative culture and entertainment scene and truely excited to continue on the tradition and bring this years event to life in Brisbane city.
Last year, over 2500 guests helped create an unforgettable night at New Farm Park. This year, foodies and cultural enthusiasts dressed in white will descend on a secret location that will be revealed to them at the very last minute for an unforgettable evening of elegance, beauty and magic.
What is the history of Brisbane's events?
There are 60+ Diner en Blanc events all over the world – and Brisbane is one of the longest running! We were the first in Australia to bring the event here.
We have had incredible events, at spectacular locations like Queens Park, Roma Street Parklands, Hamilton, South Bank, City Botanic Gardens, Brisbane Showgrounds, and New Farm Park.
We believe the success of the event is because our attendees are wonderful!! There is a bit of effort that goes into the event – dressing in white, bringing tables and chairs – but we Brisbanian's aren't afraid of a little effort, because we know the rewards are spectacular! If you are the kind of person who loves to meet new people, put on a party, be part of something incredible and you love our city, you will love this event and have a magical evening!
Where is it?
It's a secret! Every year the destination changes. It could be anywhere in Brisbane. You won't even find out until you arrive, which is just one aspect that makes the event so much fun.
When do tickets go on sale?
There are 3 phases to tickets:
Phase 1 are members from last year only. They get the first chance to return to the event. These tickets typically go on sale 4 weeks before the event. Note guests of members are not included in Phase 1, but can be sponsored (note this is not automatic)
Phase 2 are people recommended by the Phase 1 ticket holders. If you know someone who attended Diner en Blanc in 2018, we suggest contacting them to see if they will sponsor you. These tickets typically go on sale 3.5 weeks before the event.
Phase 3 is open to everyone on the Waiting List. These tickets typically go on sale 3 weeks before the event. It's first come, first served for these tickets (just like a concert), and previously they have sold out in a few hours. We are putting on more tickets than ever this year, but I would still recommend you get in quick.
About a week before each phase opens you will receive an email with the details about how to register and what dates and times you need to be ready.
If you have some more questions about tickets, like can you book in groups, are you guaranteed a ticket if you are on the waiting list, and more, have a look at our blog post - https://brisbane.dinerenblanc.com/questions-about-tickets-541
Can I get more involved?
Yes! We need volunteers to assist with the communication with guests and leading people at the event. You get to enjoy yourself on the night and also get some great perks.
